Tina’s Treasured Thoughts

I’m Back - Brieftly

June 12th, 2008

I couldn’t believe how long it had been when Iwent to my blog to show it to someone.  Wow … too long!!!!

My husband and I have done several missions since April.   I have also gone to Alabama to get my mother who is 88 to bring her to Indiana for a week while her caregiver went on Vacation.   She is in a wheelchair for most everything.   It had been 20 years since she was here last.   She has some dementician and was disoriented for a bit, but has really enjoyed being here.

We are leaving early in the morning to take her back home and we will return to our home on Saturday.   I will try to post again next week after I return.

Hope you all have a blessed weekend.

See you later.

Too Long

April 16th, 2008

Well, hello everyone………….

I have been gone too long.   I am doing great from my by-pass surgery.  I have now lost 78 lbs., feeling great, looking so much better, getting new clothes, and I would say Life Is Good !!!!

We [my husband Jack & I] have done 2 Lay Witness Missions and doing one at Hermitage, Tennessee on the 25th of this month.  The theme is “Pass It On”.

News about one of the past missions:

It was at McMinnville, TN and I do a meeting with the women on Saturday afternoon and so my presentation was on the new little book that Max Lucado has recently put out about “God Thinks You Are Wonderful”.   I had purchased many of the gift items he has available and had a gift bag for each lady [around 40] and talked about my own experience and how I know now that God does think I am wonderful.

It was such a blessing to do and to see the results of that meeting.  On the one coming up, I am doing the box of love gift and have made one for each lady, but this is a large church and this has been a challenge.  I will probably have 200 women on Saturday and it has taken a lot of effort to get all these gifts made.   I am still working on them, but such joy to give.

When God said, “it is more blessed to give than to receive”, he certainly knew what he was talking about.   Why would I ever doubt that?  lol

Well, take care and I will be back soon, hopefully not as long as this last stretch.    Oh yes, I am finishing up the last afghan to send to Shelley at This Electric Life on Share A Square.

Making some bags for my quilt blocks that I am working on and finishing up some crocheted afghans that I am also working on.

Don’t want any moss growing under my feet ……… lol

Bye for now………….

Learning, Learning

February 5th, 2008

Boy, sometimes it is so hard being such a greenie !!!

I joined zooomr like Drew told me to and uploaded the picture I wanted and then couldn’t figure out how to put it on my blog post, so just copied it and pasted it in the post.

I know there is a better way, but don’t know how yet.

Anyway, you can see the windows where I was talking about my sister, Rita coming to visit.    She is quite amazed at me having a blog site.   She said she had heard the word, but had no clue what it was.  She says this is for people who don’t have as busy a life as she does.   And she couldn’t figure out why a person would want one.   She said, “what do you write about and who cares about all that stuff”  Well, I know people do care and I love going to the different sites and learning what people are thinking and talking about.

I LOVE IT,   DON’T YOU???

Trying to put the picture on my blog

Going to try and put the picture on after Drew told me to join a photo site.  Hope it works.

Nope …. couldn’t figure it out

Let me see if I can paste it here.

Dining Table and Windows   yes!!!

Hope You Are Having A Great Day

February 4th, 2008

Hello to all you posties out there.

My sister, Rita who lives in Nashville and Memphis Tennessee came up here to visit me this past Friday.   She is a funny and strange person by a normal person’s standards.   I mean that in a good way.   She went out Friday to go to the Library to get some audio books and decided to drive up here.   She can do this in a “spur of the moment”.   She called me and said I am on my way there and I will be ready to eat around 5:00.   Sure enough she was here and I broiled ribeye steaks for her and my husband, Jack and we had baked potatoes with sour cream and butter.  I have a beautiful window in front of my dining table and so we sat there and the snow was outside and with candle light it was like sitting on a lake in a nice restaurant somewhere having dinner.   It was a special treat.  Oh, I had baked pot and some chicken salad I had made for myself since steak doesn’t chew up very well for me.   I am going to take a picuture of my windows and maybe you will get the idea for the setting.  Have a wonderful day.   Life gives us little surprises every now and then.

* the photo was too large it said and I can’t figure out how to fix it. Sorry. I’ll post it later if I figure it out. *

think I can paste it now !!!

I’m Back Finally

February 1st, 2008

I can’t believe how long it has been since I posted.  “Shame on me”.   I read the different blogs, but just haven’t taken the time to write anything.  Life is good and the snow is beautiful outside.   Probably not for those who have to get out in it.   I had a great Holiday visiting all my family down south.   I enjoy so much the blessing of being able to stay inside and just do the things I like.   “Thank you husband for that blessing that you have made possible”.   Sometimes I think I really live in a fantasy world, not the real world.   At almost 70, I guess that is ok.

Drew recently came to Peru and it was nice to meet him and what an interesting person he is.   His photos are so amazing.  It takes a lot of dedication to do that photo a day for such a long time.  “Drew, we all Thank You”.

I am still losing weight after my gastric by pass surgery and I feel great.  58 lbs is such a load off this body.

Went through my clothes last week and got rid of oddles and oddles of clothes.   It was so much fun.

I am getting ready to make a cd of gospel music in Muscle Shoals Alabama in about 3 weeks and so I am working on those songs that are going to be on it.   That consumes some of my time.   Iwill be back here again soon.   So in the meantime, “Have a wonderful life, we only get one time around”.

Traveling on the road

December 22nd, 2007

Hi everyone,

I am writing this in the car as we travel.  Laptops are GREAT!!!   My darling Jack does all the driving.  We are on our way to Elmore, AL to visit my brother, and then on later this afternoon to Stockbridge, GA [south of Atlanta] to visit my daughter, Susan and my grandchildren.  [4 of them].    Having a wonderful time.  The weather here is nice as we travel. 55 degrees.   We left all that snow behind in Indiana.   To Shelley with “Share A Square”, I got your afghan mailed before I left.   You will probably get it in a few days.    Send me another one if you would like.   Also if you just need someone to put the black around squares, I would be happy to do that for you.   Have a Merry Christmas everyone and I’ll post again soon.

Christmas is on its way ….

December 10th, 2007

I am still trying to get my Christmas tree decorated.  I got all my lights out that were on it last year and guess what?  they didn’t work this year.  Only 1 string was good.   I spent hours putting in new lights that I knew were good and even changed fuses, but NO… that didn’t work either.   I really don’t get why they were working when I took them down and now they don’t.   I threw them all away finally and went and got new ones today.   Hopefully I will get it done tonight.   I am leaving on the 20th, so if I don’t get them done soon, won’t be any need to do it.    One reason I haven’t gotten it done earlier is because of the surgery I had done on Oct. 30th and just couldn’t seem to get the “get up and go that I needed”.   Went to one Christmas party that was given by the Bariactic Hospital and staff and that was really nice.   We are going out to eat with our friends, Karen and Lynn Moser tonight [what little I can eat] and I’m sure that will be a good time.   They have been very busy and we haven’t seen much of them lately.   Any of you who know her from “The Pond” know she is a busy person.    I hope you all have a wonderful week and oh yes, Thank you Karen, for putting Ben Sparks link on my blog page.   Ben, she got it done.   Talk to you all later.   Thanks for all your comments and good wishes.

Trying to Learn Something

December 6th, 2007

I wanted to add the photo a day from Ben Sparks site to my site but couldn’t figure out how to do it.  I am such a greenie.   Maybe Ben could do it for me.  Let me know.

A Site I Really Like

December 6th, 2007

I just visited this site and it has such interesting reading on it.  I wanted to be able to find it again, so am putting it here.   She has another one and I hope to visit it tomorrow.

Her husband is a chef which was interesting and he had a good recipe for Red Snapper that I am going to try.  Thanks!

I really like this one too http://www.benspark.com   Ben is an interesting person and has beautiful photos.  I go to his site, but don’t comment and so I guess he probably doesn’t know I visit there.
