Eye Surgery Went Great

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Well, I had my second laser eye surgery yesterday and oh my goodness, how great it is to see again.   I had cataract’s removed from both eyes about a year and a half ago and the covering over the implants clouded over and I was almost blind and couldn’t see, so had that taken care of last week and this week.  We don’t appreciate our eye site untill it goes bad on us.  I couldn’t believe all the brightness of the colors again.

I Forgot About The Afghans

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

I forgot I have been working on putting an afghan together for The Share A Square for Children who have cancer and will be in camp next summer.

This is the link for that also.  http://thiseclecticlife.com/2007/10/01/october-sas-update/

Mailing the one I put together for her today.

Had to put black around all the squares and whip them together and then rim it with a couple of rows of crochet.

It has been such a blessing and rewarding to do this.

Been A Long Time

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

I haven’t forgotten I have a blog, but it probably seems that way.  I see I haven’t posted since september 20.   Too long!!

I have been so busy.  I am having Gastric By-Pass Surgery on the 30th of this month and there have been so many things I had to have done before the surgery.

Clearance by my heart doctor, a cath, much lab work, gallbadder untra sound, x-rays, visit to 2 different doctors, a physicologist meeting for 1 hr. to evaluate why I want this surgery.

Guess I am all clear and will start on this new jorney next week.   Oh, in the middle there, I had cataret surgery over 1 1/2 years ago and the covering for the implant clouded over in the past 6 months and so had to go have lazer surgery on my left eye last week and tomorrow I go for the right eye.

Hope all of you are doing good.  Thanks for all the comments on my last post.

I know God is good and I know He is with me through all of this.

I’ll try and write again before the surgery.

Can’t Keep It Neat

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Does your desk or workplace get piled up like mine?   My husband has made one of our connecting rooms into a wonderful office for me and it is so difficult to keep it neat.   It is large enough and you would think it would be easy to keep neat, but NO doesn’t seem to be that easy.

I have an L-Shaped desk that he built and a long counter behind me, but it stays piled up with papers all the time.  Seems like the more space you have, the more places you have to lay things.

I have taken some pictures and will share them with you.   As I looked at them, I realized I have too many things just sitting on my desk all the time that I need to condense.    Like candles, penholders, coin holder, plaques, pictures, etc;  so looking at the pictures helped me to see what I need to do.

So many times, I work and get it all looking good and then in no time, it it back like this again.   I am a person who likes things neat, so this is a challenge.   Can anyone relate?   First picture I took of this mess , 2nd. Picture , 3rd Picture , 4th Picture , 5th and last picture    Any advice from you organizers out there?

Latest News from Tina

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Hello everyone,

I have had a lot going on in my life.  The last time I wrote here was on August 6th and my daughter had gone home to Georgia after her visit here in Peru with me.

Let’s see…… It took me a few days to adjust to being by myself again.   I am alone most of the time, since all the children are married, gone and have their lives.   I always feel a little down when I have someone visit and then they leave.   It seems to get worse as I age.   I had my 69th birthday on the 18th and it was great.   Got a laptop and then my friend Karen and I had so much fun shopping at Best Buy to purchase all the things I would need for it.   Got Verizon Wireless unlimited internet, a word program, then got off Norton’s and put AVG as my virus protection.   The saturday after my daughter went home, Karen and I scrapbooked at our scrapshack, 2 doors from me.    We turned a little house that we owned into a scraphouse for us to have for personal use.    How blessed we are to have it and then just leave everything laying untill we come back again.    Oh, went to Red Lobster (my favorite eating place) and ate way too much.   Had a large take out box for later.   Their cheese bisquits are so awesome.

Been crocheting granny blocks for  http://thiseclecticlife.com/2007/06/14/searching-for-people-with-big-hearts/  and I am so new at blogging, I can’t figure out where to post a comment on her site about what is going on with the granny squares.   I would like to know how she is coming along?   Does she have any afghans put together yet and how many more squares she needs?    Between myself and my friend Myrna, we have sent around 70 and have more ready to send.   Guess I need an update on her site.   She may have it and I just don’t know how to find it.   Help from anyone will be appreciated.

Today, I have to go get fitted for new lens for my glasses.   I had cataract surgery on both eyes about 1 1/2 years ago and I could see so good, but now it has changed and the stigmitism has happened and now I am going to wear glasses again.    Part of the aging process I suppose.

Well, dear friends, that is all for today.   I’ll try not to be so long getting back here again.

Women of Faith

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Well, my daughter from Georgia went home on Thursday of last week and then on Friday, my friend Karen and 24 other women from my church went to Ft. Wayne, Indiana for a Women of Faith conference.   It was great!  Don’t know how many of you have heard of Patsy Clairmont, or Anita Renfroe, but they were hilarious.    They had many good speakers and Henry McCloud was there also and he and Sheila Walsh had a Q& A time and it was very inspiring.  I really needed that time away.   I’m glad to be settling back into my routine and getting over to my scraphouse to do some more scrapbooking.   I got lots of comments about the blooming of my “Queen of The Night” plant.   Thank all of you for commenting.   I’ll get back here again soon with more news about what is going on in my world.   My baby daughter (38, but still my baby) is on Meth and haven’t talked to her.   She is not talking to any of the family at this time.   If you pray, please remember her.   Her name is Rhonda.   So long for now.   Take care and remember “Life Is Good”.

My Daughter Visiting

Friday, July 27th, 2007

I have been having the greatest time with my daughter’s visit here and we have been scrapbooking at my very own scrapbook house which is the second house to where I live.  It has everything a person could need to scrapbook.   Then when I am done, I just leave everything the way it is and come back another day.  It is Great!

We also watched my plant bloom last evening.   It is a “Queen of The Night” and it has not bloomed for 7 years or so and then someone told me to put low nitrogen fertilizer on it and lo and behold, it has 4 blooms.   I was so excited when I first saw the buds.   It started blooming about 9:00 last evening and it took around 3 1/2hrs for all of them to totally open.   I blooms and then the next day, it droops and that is it.    I hope I can put a picture of it on here.  I am going to try.   I’ll talk to you another day.

Home at last

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

It was a really long trip for me. I got to visit with my 87 year old mother for 6 days and that was really nice. The bad part is that she is sad when I leave because she knows it will be another 6-7 months before she sees me again. Then off to Georgia for my grandson’s wedding which was soooo beautiful. I hope to post some pictures later. Then they were off to Hawaii for a honeymoon. Stayed another 2 days and then the long drive home. I crocheted all the way except for some time out breaks. I am making the granny squares for the cancer victim kids at summer camp next year. Go to this site and read about it. Share A Square Project I have 20 squares made so far. She will need them by the end of August. I think this is such a wonderful thing she is doing. If everyone would do a little it would go really fast.

It was nice to be in my own bed and today I slept most of the day and rested. Well, I will get back here soon. Everyone take good care of yourself.
