Traveling With Friends

Friday, August 31st, 2007

This is the long Labor Day weekend and my husband, Jack and I are on our way to Nashville, Tennessee with our friends Stan & Mary Bennett from Peru, In - our home to go to a Gospel Singing with The Legacy Five Quartet as the host.   We booked our reservations last year when we were there on the same weekend and we are having a good time so far.   We stopped to spend the night at the Best Western in Sheperdsville, Ky and then on to Nashville tomorrow.   I have 2 sisters who live there and plan to see them briefly while we are there.

Mary and I have been reading and looking at magazines we haven’t had time to sit and look at because we are too busy at home to do it.   Any one get so many magazines you don’t have time to look at them all?

Remember back in July I posted some pictures of my Queen of The Night plantwhen it bloomed and it hadn’t bloomed for allmost 7 yrs or so, well guess what, I have 9 more blooms coming on and it is going to bloom again even yet this year.   There was a lady on ebay that I bought a couple more of those plants from and she told me if I would fertilize it with low nitrogen fertilizer it might start blooming again.  I did and obviously it works.   It was not long after that, it bloomed with 4 blooms.    It is so unbelieveable.  I can hardly wait.   I will put some more pictures on when it does.

I will try to write some as we are on our trip.   Not sure I know how to post some pictures, but will see if I can figure it out.   We are staying at the beautiful Gaylord Hotel and that is always so beautiful there.

Take care for now and God bless you all.

For Today

I am visiting some friends in Urbana Illinois and it is so nice to visit with them.   Everyone has retired for the evening, so thought I would get a post in.   We had a wonderful dinner and then just visited and we also got to see some friends who came up here to see us from Southern Indiana.   Gary, the husband of Audrey who we came to visit retired in 1998 from the University of Illinois where he was a professor with Department of Animal Science and his specialty was sheep.   He and Audrey just got back 4 months ago from New Zealand and Australia where they visited a number of Corridale sheep stations.   They attended the world Corridale congress held in Christchurch in New Zealand.   He has published a book about the history of the Corriedale sheep in this country, USA.   An article was published in the local News Gazette about his visit there.   He said in the newspaper article that ”Sheep are big business for Australia and New Zealand.  It was interesting to be in a situation where sheep are so vitally important to the economics of the country.”

Gary had some interesting articles in the book he wrote about these Corriedale sheep.    My friend, Audrey just had surgery for breast cancer last week and it is amazing how well she is doing.    They got all the cancer and the surrounding area and now she has to undergo radiation.   She said it was just so great, how her faith in God has helped her through this and how much she felt his presence.

She has been through a lot of things in the last several years and God has been with her through it all.    Believe there is a song about “Thru It All” and a good one at that.

My husband, Jack and I will be going home tomorrow afternoon and then back to work for Jack on Monday.   He is a building contractor of new homes and he has several going at this time.   I will relax and probably go back to my scrapbooking.   I am trying my best to get this album finished for my grandaughter that will be graduating next year an hope to have it done by then.   I am almost through her baby pictures and then on to some grammer age and then high school.   It has been fun.    Need to take a couple of pictures and post them here.

Well, I’ll go for now.   Have a wonderful life.    You only get one time through it.   God bless you all for now…….

See you soon.

Hello everyone,

I have had a lot going on in my life.  The last time I wrote here was on August 6th and my daughter had gone home to Georgia after her visit here in Peru with me.

Let’s see…… It took me a few days to adjust to being by myself again.   I am alone most of the time, since all the children are married, gone and have their lives.   I always feel a little down when I have someone visit and then they leave.   It seems to get worse as I age.   I had my 69th birthday on the 18th and it was great.   Got a laptop and then my friend Karen and I had so much fun shopping at Best Buy to purchase all the things I would need for it.   Got Verizon Wireless unlimited internet, a word program, then got off Norton’s and put AVG as my virus protection.   The saturday after my daughter went home, Karen and I scrapbooked at our scrapshack, 2 doors from me.    We turned a little house that we owned into a scraphouse for us to have for personal use.    How blessed we are to have it and then just leave everything laying untill we come back again.    Oh, went to Red Lobster (my favorite eating place) and ate way too much.   Had a large take out box for later.   Their cheese bisquits are so awesome.

Been crocheting granny blocks for  http://thiseclecticlife.com/2007/06/14/searching-for-people-with-big-hearts/  and I am so new at blogging, I can’t figure out where to post a comment on her site about what is going on with the granny squares.   I would like to know how she is coming along?   Does she have any afghans put together yet and how many more squares she needs?    Between myself and my friend Myrna, we have sent around 70 and have more ready to send.   Guess I need an update on her site.   She may have it and I just don’t know how to find it.   Help from anyone will be appreciated.

Today, I have to go get fitted for new lens for my glasses.   I had cataract surgery on both eyes about 1 1/2 years ago and I could see so good, but now it has changed and the stigmitism has happened and now I am going to wear glasses again.    Part of the aging process I suppose.

Well, dear friends, that is all for today.   I’ll try not to be so long getting back here again.

Women of Faith

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Well, my daughter from Georgia went home on Thursday of last week and then on Friday, my friend Karen and 24 other women from my church went to Ft. Wayne, Indiana for a Women of Faith conference.   It was great!  Don’t know how many of you have heard of Patsy Clairmont, or Anita Renfroe, but they were hilarious.    They had many good speakers and Henry McCloud was there also and he and Sheila Walsh had a Q& A time and it was very inspiring.  I really needed that time away.   I’m glad to be settling back into my routine and getting over to my scraphouse to do some more scrapbooking.   I got lots of comments about the blooming of my “Queen of The Night” plant.   Thank all of you for commenting.   I’ll get back here again soon with more news about what is going on in my world.   My baby daughter (38, but still my baby) is on Meth and haven’t talked to her.   She is not talking to any of the family at this time.   If you pray, please remember her.   Her name is Rhonda.   So long for now.   Take care and remember “Life Is Good”.
